Clergy at St. John's

Reverend Canon Phil Bristow
Interim Priest - In - Charge
GREETINGS FROM CANON PHIL BRISTOW, Interim Priest-in-Charge
I became the Interim Priest-in-Charge of St. John the Evangelist and Holy Trinity Chippawa on February 1, 2025, and I’m enjoying getting to know each of you.
I’m a life-long Anglican. It was during my B.Com studies that I realized a clear call to ordained ministry. In 1972 I graduated from McGill and Montreal Diocesan Theological College and was ordained. My first 21 years of ministry were in suburban, rural and city parishes in Montreal, ending with 7 years with the
diocese, first as a Program Officer, later as Executive Assistant to the Bishop.
Cheryl and I are native Montrealers. We met at McGill Christian Fellowship in 1965 and were married in 1970. We have two amazing daughters married to wonderful husbands. Shannon & Elias live in Quebec City with their two teenaged sons. Lydia and Doug are near San Diego with their two teenaged daughters.
We moved to Toronto in 1993 where I was on the staff of St. Paul’s Boor Street. In 1998 I began a fulfilling 12-year ministry at St. Philip’s on-the-hill, Unionville (Markham). Following retirement I was Priest Associate at St. Paul’s on-the-Hill, Pickering until we moved to St. Catharines in 2019. Our home parish is Holy Trinity Welland.
With God’s help we will walk together to discern God’s plan for the next chapter in the life and witness of St. John and the Kingdom of God.
